Houses do not have brand names associated with them. People go and pick out a home based on size, location and the cost. A home must be in excellent condition and able to be without significant damage so that the owner does not have to spend lots of money on repairs and other things that homes are often in neglected of having.  When one looks at a home they may often see plain sturdy wood or brick. But where is the name brand on that home?  It is not placed on the closet door or on the front or back of the house advertising its capability to a family of whatever size it claims to be able to house comfortably. There is no cute decal etched anywhere and there is no package deal of warranty or company you can go to regarding trade in value. There are realtors, but it isn't quite the same because since no brand name is attached, a house in good condition may be priced very high and the only difference between it and another home worth the same value is the location.  You are not also able to inexpensively move the house to another location to upgrade as part of a trade in.

This would make them USA affordable and would enable people of most incomes to be able to afford what should now be considered a necessity.  Car parts are cheap unless you want a name branded on to it.  When made of the same simple, sturdy pieces of material a car is just that and once securely put together it will run just as well.  People who go after luxury are utilizing imported and specially made products that go into cars but are often not necessary. This should be the same for automobiles. Generic parts along with  necessity and design.  In fact, there should be build you own car websites and companies everywhere. When patents expire and parts cost next to nothing, all a generic company really needs to do is assemble the parts according to safety regulation and be tested so that they are safe for passengers and drivers.  One may not need to sit on imported leather or have hand crafted wood- although it would be nice.  We need cars for American roads and not the Grand Prix. Safety is a factor and all cars should be built that way but what we don't need are expensive name parts that do not entirely protect us as they claim to do. Cost efficient, durable and creatively designed is really all that is needed.  Women change names when they get married.  The question is who really lasts?  Generic cars-the basics in life!
