Wars are costly.  It takes money and resources to supply the government with the necessary ammunition available to continue battle.  When the government doles out money to all those that need it, they have less and less money to spend in order to continue their cause for peace and or vindication.  This effort has taken a toll on our economy in that when the government has to cutback, everything else is affected.
