The Murrel Fish

Mrigishira Karti Nakshatra takes place during the full moon in the first week of June in India. Those who attend purchase a piece of Murrel fish approximately two inches in length and it is then digested during this ritual. The purpose for doing this is to cure asthma and respitory ailments, since inhailers just assist with symptoms but are of no cure. It has been said that the secret ingredient placed inside the fish prior to swallowing it is what contains the antidote that people with asthma need to be healed from ailment.

This in itself is similar to being a contestant on Iron Chef. In that you are provided with an odd ingredient and put in the situation to now make this an edible piece of work for the judges. I suppose that once religion and belief has endeared one to live and lead life in helping those cure themselves of any illness will definately be judged and rewarded according to the success of it all whether it be in this lifetime or the next. One has to wonder does the secret ingredient of herb or spice really matter to the cure or is it there to compliment the cure resulting from the toxins in the fish by adding it?

The Murrel fish can survive through phelgm and congestion because of it's slimy nature. The slime producing cells make glycoprotein. The digestion of the glycoprotein in the Murrel fish itself clears the lungs of mucous and phlegm. The toxins in the mucoprotein help protect the lungs from sensitivity to dust, smoke, inhalation due to exercise which creates muscle swelling or tightening.  Glycoproteins are 85% of molecules in the human body. If not produced properly this can affect cell tissues, antibodies, enzymes and muscle fibre in the body. When sugar deficiency occurs production of glycoproteins are disturbed, thus the lack of glycoprotein in the body which causes a malfunction of lungs and surrounding tissue.

The secret ingredient is therefore, the Murrel fish which produces an enormous amount of glycoprotein enabling it to aid in the cure of asthma with the digestion of it over time. Because the Murrel fish replenishes the body for normal lung and tissue function. The herbs and spices added are provided to kill off the mercury inside the fish as mercury is considered dangerous and can have harmful effects when digested.
